Founded in 1906 on Place Vendôme by Estelle Arpels and Alfred Van Cleef, the Maison has made poetry its raw material: the Mystery Setting, patented in 1933, where the stones seem to float without prongs; the Dancer clips; the Zip, inspired by the zipper at the request of the Duchess of Windsor; and the 1968 quatrefoil Alhambra, which has become a global talisman. A member of Richemont, Van Cleef & Arpels perpetuates a fairytale-like high jewelry tradition, evoking ballets, gardens, and celestial bodies.
