Marc Jacobs launched his label in New York in 1984 and established himself as a gifted enfant terrible: his grunge collection for Perry Ellis in 1992, which cost him his job, became legendary. Artistic director of Louis Vuitton from 1997 to 2013, where he pioneered artist collaborations with Murakami and Sprouse, he simultaneously developed his own fashion house, backed by LVMH.
