To mark the start of the US Open tennis tournament on August 27th, Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue US magazine and a passionate fan of both fashion and sports, asked several designers to redesign the iconic yellow ball.

- in-chief editor American Vogue Anna Wintour, a huge tennis fan, enlisted the help of 11 designers to customize tennis balls. This project comes at a perfect time, coinciding with theUS Open tennis.

Thus, the 11 designers who took part in the exercise deliver their creations celebrating in a very fashionable the emblematic ball of this clay court sport.

Peter Som envisions the ball as a true jewel , adorning it with sparkling rhinestones. Fenton offers an elegant version , dressing it in black embellished with pearls and chic gold details. Pamela Love plays the romantic card , planting a pretty gold arrow piercing a yellow tennis ball bearing her initials. Erickson Beamon, for his part, gives his ball a bling-bling look , while Warby Parker lends it a player.

Other creations are imbued with more femininity, such as that of Creatures of the Wind which features delicate flowers, that of Diane Von Furstenberg proclaiming "love is life!" or that of Monique Lhuillier dressed entirely in lace.

In a different style, the ball designed by Rag & Bone takes on the appearance of baseball leather Tory Burch explores an ethnic's ballEddie Borgo adopts a futuristic look with a metallic finish adorned with sharp spikes.

Special mention goes to Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova, who adorned her ball with red kisses as a nod to her new candy brand, Sugarpova.
