Christmas logs from Parisian luxury hotels: the 2026 creations, prices and how to order

Every year, the pastry chefs of Parisian luxury hotels compete to create the most daring Christmas log, which has become the centerpiece of their holiday collection. In 2026, the trend is clear: the log is shedding its traditional round shape. The Bristol and the Lutetia are transforming it into a wreath, the Ritz is featuring its teddy bear, and the Park Hyatt is wrapping it like a Korean gift. Here are the 2026 Christmas logs already unveiled by the luxury hotels, along with their prices, number of servings, and ordering dates. This guide will be updated as new announcements are made.

The 2026 trends for the palace yule log

The form: wreaths, sculptures and gift items

The traditional rolled Yule log has almost disappeared from luxury hotels. This year, three shapes dominate: the Christmas wreath, chosen by the Bristol and the Lutetia; the sculptural Yule log, where a chocolate figure becomes the centerpiece, like the teddy bear at the Ritz or the nutcracker at the Cheval Blanc; and the decorative Yule log, which imitates a tied gift, a music box, or a silk pompom. Dessert is now conceived as a centerpiece, photographed before being cut.

The flavors: citrus, chestnut, and dried fruit

In terms of flavor, the chefs favor citrus fruits (yuzu, iyokan, kumquat, clementine, mandarin), chestnut in various textures, hazelnut and pecan praline, and pear. Chocolate remains present but its role changes: it serves as a shell, decoration, or ganache rather than a single flavor. Most creations layer a crispy base, a biscuit, a fruity insert, and a light mousse—a construction more akin to anentremet than a traditional Yule log.

The inspirations: Asia in the spotlight

Two luxury hotels openly draw inspiration from Asia: the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme with Korean bojagi, and the Mandarin Oriental Paris with lucky tassels from Chinese culture. The Bristol, meanwhile, borrows its citrus fruits from Japan.

2025 versus 2026: prices are rising, with one exception

Four establishments allow for a comparison with their creation last year, based on the prices recorded by Gault&Millau in December 2025:

Establishment Yule Log 2025 Yule Log 2026 Evolution
Mandarin Oriental Lutetia Light Yule Log, €115 Crown-shaped Yule log, €135 +20 €
Cheval Blanc Paris The King of the Forests, €180 The Nutcracker, €190 +10 €
Ritz Paris Le Comptoir Barley Sugar, €250 Carousel Yule Log, €290 +40 €
Mandarin Oriental Paris Couture, €140 The Imperial, €98 -42 €

The price increase primarily affects the most exclusive editions, such as the Carrousel Yule Log, of which only 65 were produced. The Mandarin Oriental Paris is taking the opposite approach with a significantly more affordable creation, limited to 150 pieces. Sizes and the number of slices vary from year to year: the comparison provides an indication of the trend, not a price per slice.

The wreath, a new form of the Yule log

The Bristol Paris: Maxence Barbot's crown

At Le Bristol, Maxence Barbot abandons the classic Yule log for a molded Christmas wreath, coated in chocolate and adorned with chocolate holly leaves. Inside, the chef plays with Japanese citrus fruits: yuzu, iyokan, and candied kumquat accompany rice pudding, a vanilla biscuit, and a puffed rice crisp, all enveloped in a milk chocolate ganache.

Nicolas Guercio builds his creation on a shortbread base, with a pecan biscuit, a confit and pieces of pear, a homemade pecan praline and a vanilla mousse, decorated with white chocolate bells.

Her yule log replicates the folds of the cloth and combines a black tea biscuit, various chestnut textures, vanilla caramel, and pear mousse. In the summer, the Park Hyatt also offers an iced afternoon tea.

Mandarin Oriental Paris: The Imperial, the most accessible

On Rue Saint-Honoré, consulting pastry chef Julien Dugourd draws inspiration from Chinese culture: his 32-centimeter-long L'Impériale Yule log is adorned with handmade red and gold tassels, symbols of good fortune. It combines black sesame, clementine, mandarin, and jasmine. At €98, it's the most affordable luxury Yule log in this selection. The Mandarin Oriental also offers a winter afternoon tea.

A hint of what to expect: Julien Vasseur, a renowned food critic, tasted the "Couture" Yule log created by Julien Dugourd for the Mandarin Oriental last year and deemed it exquisite. The creation changes every year, but the same chef will be at the helm for 2026.

And what about the fashion houses?

Louis Vuitton and Dior have not yet unveiled their 2026 Yule logs. Last year, Louis Vuitton entrusted theirs to Maxime Frédéric, and Dior called upon Yannick Alléno for a remarkable creation for the house. This guide will be updated as soon as their announcements are made.

Where does the Yule log come from?

The Yule log pays homage to a much older tradition: that of the large log burned in the hearth on Christmas Eve, believed to bring good luck for the coming year. When fireplaces gave way to stoves, the symbol shifted from the hearth to the table. The sweet version, a rolled sponge cake covered in buttercream to resemble bark, became a staple in Parisian pastry shops in the 19th century. Luxury hotels have since turned it into a stylistic exercise, with each pastry chef creating a collectible haute pâtisserie

How to choose your palace Yule log

  • ◆Depending on the number of guests. The dishes in this selection serve 6 to 10 people. For a larger gathering, the Bristol and the Lutetia offer dishes for up to 10 people.
  • ◆According to flavors. Citrus lovers will go to the Bristol or the Mandarin Oriental Paris, chestnut lovers to the Park Hyatt, chocolate and praline lovers to the Ritz or the Cheval Blanc.
  • ◆Depending on the budget. From €98 for L'Impériale to €290 for the Bûche Carrousel, i.e. from approximately €10 to €40 per person.
  • ◆Depending on the desired effect. A sculpted log cake makes an impression at dessert time; a wreath cake is easier to share.
  • ◆Depending on dietary requirements. Almost all dishes contain nuts, milk and gluten: ask the hotel for the allergen list before ordering.

Ordering your palace Yule log is easy

  • ◆Book early. Most creations are produced in limited quantities, and some, like the Carrousel Yule Log, in only a few dozen copies.
  • ◆Identify the collection dates. They are often concentrated in the second half of December and vary from one hotel to another.
  • ◆Plan for transport. A 30-centimeter log sculpture should be transported flat, kept cool, and stored in the refrigerator until serving.
  • ◆Follow the chef's instructions. Each hotel indicates a storage time and sometimes a time to remove from the refrigerator before eating: follow them, these are fresh desserts without preservatives.
  • ◆Choose the right size. The creations in this selection serve 6 to 10 people, for a price ranging from €98 to €290.
