Gianni Versace founded his fashion house in Milan in 1978 and electrified the fashion world: baroque prints, a golden Medusa as his emblem, dresses adorned with safety pins, and the invention of the supermodel, whom he sent down the runway together to George Michael's "Freedom!" After his death in 1997, his sister Donatella carried on the legacy with flamboyant fidelity. Acquired by the Prada Group in 2025 after its years under Capri Holdings, Versace remains the very name of Italian glamour: sensual, gilded, and uninhibited.
