The Macallan

Founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid on the banks of the Spey, The Macallan distillery has risen to become the absolute benchmark for single malt whisky: its stills are among the smallest in Speyside, its obsession with seasoned sherry casks from Andalusia imparts its amber hue, and its rare editions shatter auction records. Owned by the Scottish Edrington Group, the distillery has been distilling since 2018 in a cathedral-like building buried beneath a green roof, a spectacular setting for a whisky that is as much a collector's item as it is a sipping experience.
