Domenico Dolce, son of a Sicilian tailor, and Stefano Gabbana presented their first collection in Milan in 1985: from this encounter was born a style that transformed the imagery of Southern Italy—black lace, corsets, baroque prints, and Madonnas—into a global fashion language.
